On June 13th, Ricarda’s on 134 Peter St. was transformed into a display of fine Italian cuisine mixed with the enthusiasm of Raptors fans for the Italian Contemporary Film Festival’s Grand Opening Soirée. The entirety of the QRC West building was filled with a variety of Italian cuisine. Homemade pasta, freshly sliced prosciutto and drinks flowing all evening kept guests full, the swing band kept everyone entertained, though everyone’s eyes were on the Raptors game being streamed. By the end of the evening, not only was everyone celebrating the best of Italian culture, but they were also celebrating Toronto as the Raptors took home the NBA Finals and made history. The room was electric as the Italian community of Toronto rejoiced, everyone cheering and screaming in unison. Though the night had to come to a close, the crowd left feeling so energized by the events of the evening, celebrating both the Italian community of Toronto and the city as a whole.
