The first Women in Governance’s annual recognition gala in Toronto was held at the Ritz-Carlton on February 20th honouring 31 major organizations that have received Parity Certification (from bronze to platinum). Katie Taylor, Chair of the Board of RBC and Jacques Goulet, President of Sun Life Financial Canada will be co-chaired this prestigious gala that was presented by the Canadian Bankers Association. The Gala brought together leaders from the corporate and political world, men and women, working together for the achievement of gender parity. This innovative standard not only assesses parity at the decision-making level but also evaluates the organization’s commitment to the implementation of mechanisms that enable women at all levels of hierarchy to achieve career advancement, thus creating a pipeline of female talent. In order to obtain their accreditation, organizations must adequately structure their procedures and meet the various selection criteria. During this prestigious evening Parity Certified companies were honored for their outstanding actions in favor of gender equality. Guests had the a cocktail reception with hors d’oeuvres and a 3 course dinner along with speeches from the Founder Caroline Codsi, and a fireside chat.
